After over 10 years of attending DCDS, I can best describe my feelings as conflicted. On one hand there are countless incredible opportunities and experiences, and engaging and incredible teachers. On the other, the culture and atmosphere propagated at DCD leaves a lot to be desired. As a queer student, I've faced at best willful ignorance, and at worst downright hostility. The academic atmosphere is also very competitive, to the point of being stifling, frequently entitled, and detrimental to genuine learning. Students at DCD will inherently think themselves to be better than students at other schools-- even when results directly prove the contrary. Self celebration is the #1 priority at DCD, preventing the school and its students from recognizing their flaws and making meaningful improvement. I would like to see the administration learn to own up to its mistakes, and in turn, allow its students to do the same. At least I'm very ready to go to college, in more than one sense.

Country Day has provided my children with an amazing blend of school related skills, along with soft, real world skills. From time management to organization skills to how to be resilient, my children have been given the skills necessary to be successful students at the next level educational, but also for life. The teachers provide a safe and engaging environment where learning is student centered and are provided support and caring attention at every turn. I know that it is not an inexpensive choice when it comes to providing an education for your children, but we see it as the most important investment that we can make in our children.
