The Wordle answer today is MINUS.

Solving this puzzle was quite fun, especially when I saw the answer, because 'MINUS' has been a word I used constantly in the last few months - check the last clue to know why! But before I had my small victory, finding out the word wasn't easy. I started the game with another of the best starting words 'CARES'. Although I found out the last letter, it didn't exactly help me. My second guess was 'MEATS' while the third was 'MINES'. At this point, I had enough to try my luck and go with 'MINUS'.

Today's Wordle etymology

'MINUS' has been part of the English vocabulary for a long time. The oldest record of the word 'MINUS' being used comes from the Middle English period that began in the early 12th century and lasted until the late 15th century. Probably, the word originates from the Latin 'MINUS' which means less.

'MINUS' is also the name of the mathematical sign, which might come from the North Sea medieval commercial tradition of using the Latin words 'PLUS' and 'MINUS' to indicate weight or measure.

The challenge comes in how your guesses count for all of the words, so you need to decide whether you’re going to focus on a specific word or try to solve multiple words at the same time. Thankfully, the number of guesses you’re given increases alongside the amount of words you’re expected to solve.
