   • If you're a fan, pre-saving an artist's upcoming song or album shows support for the release. It also guarantees that the album or song will automatically be added to your Spotify library as soon as it comes out.
   • If you're an artist, setting up a pre-save campaign is a great way to energize your fans before upcoming releases. When fans pre-save your new releases, you'll increase your first-day stream stats as well as your stream-to-save ratio.^[1]

   Schedule your song or album release with Spotify. Before you can create a pre-save campaign, you'll need to submit the title and release date for digital distribution using your preferred distributor, such as Distrokid or CDBaby.^[5]

   Create an artist landing page with any Spotify pre-save tool. While Spotify has announced Countdown Pages, a feature that will allow artists to set up pre-save links within the Spotify app, the feature is not yet available unless you're a big artist like Ed Sheeran or Karol G.^[6] In the meantime, you'll need to use a third-party tool to create your custom artist landing page and pre-save button. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from:

   • If you use Distrokid as your distributor, you can set up pre-saves through Distrokid's free Hyperfollow service.^[7] Just go to https://hyperfollow.com to claim your URL and sign up.
   • If you use CDBaby, set up a free Show.co account, which allows you to create pre-save campaigns and use other marketing tools.^[8] To get started, go to your CDBaby dashboard and click Free Marketing Tools with Show.co.^[9]
   • Many other distributors offer options for creating pre-save buttons. Check with your distributor if you're not sure.
   • You can also use a music-friendly "Link in Bio" tool like Linkfire, Feature.fm, or Hypeddit. Just keep in mind that most of these services do charge a fee. Sign up for an account and follow the on-screen instructions to create your artist landing page.

   Get the Spotify URI for your release. Most pre-save creation tools will need the direct URI for the upcoming release, though some services will also accept the UPC used by your distributor. ^[10] The URI is different than your Spotify URL. To get the URI for the pre-save link:

   • Log in to your Spotify for Artists account on a computer.
   • Go to the album or song you're releasing. You'll find it in your Upcoming Releases section.
   • Click or tap the three dots.
   • Hold down the Alt (PC) or Option (Mac) key as you click Copy Song Link or Copy Album Link.^[11]
     • The copied link should begin with "spotify:album:" or "spotify:song" followed by numbers and letters.
   • Paste the pre-save link into a file so you don't forget it.

   Create a new campaign. You'll usually see an option like Create Link or Create Campaign in your pre-save tool.

   Select Pre-Release or Spotify Pre-Save. The option name will vary by tool.

   Create your Spotify pre-save link. The options will vary by tool, but you'll always have to paste the release's URI you copied earlier. You may also have the option to customize your short link, add a custom confirmation message, and even turn on pre-release buttons for other platforms like Apple Music and Amazon Music.

   • Once you've created your pre-save campaign, follow the on-screen instructions to publish it. This adds the pre-save campaign to your artist landing page.

   Add your artist landing page to your social media profiles and website. The best way to get your fans to pre-save your upcoming releases is to make it easy for them to find the pre-save button on social media. In addition to sharing your pre-save link in a tweet or thread, add the URL of your artist landing page to your Instagram, Twitter, or Threads bio, as well as your artist website.
